Honest comparison

Roadmaps that ship, not just visuals.

Stride vs Roadmunk (now Tempo Strategic Roadmaps): when a polished roadmap slide isn't enough.

Roadmunk, renamed Strategic Roadmaps by Tempo in July 2024, builds stakeholder roadmaps in timeline, swimlane and table views, with idea scoring and portals in its Idea Manager. Stride is an AI-native delivery platform where the roadmap connects to PRDs, stories, ADRs, tests, and release notes in one graph; the roadmap is the front door, not the artifact.

Quick answers

Is Roadmunk still available?

Yes, under a new name. Tempo bought Roadmunk in 2021 and renamed it Strategic Roadmaps on July 1, 2024; roadmunk.com now redirects to tempo.io, and logins are unchanged. It is still a standalone web app, with plans from $19 to $99 per editor a month billed annually, no free plan, and a 14-day free trial.

How does Roadmunk compare with ProductPlan?

Roadmunk, now Tempo Strategic Roadmaps, publishes per-editor prices of $19, $49 and $99 a month, billed annually; portfolio roll-ups and PNG or HTML export start at the $49 tier, and two-way Jira sync is included at $99. ProductPlan, now positioned as a product intelligence platform, sells one plan priced on request, with viewers included free.

Does Roadmunk sync with Jira?

Yes. Jira and Azure DevOps items sync into Strategic Roadmaps on a schedule on every plan; two-way sync comes with the Professional plan, or as an add-on of $9 a month per collaborator on Business.

Does Roadmunk support dependencies?

Yes, on the Business plan and above. Strategic Roadmaps links items with blocking relationships, so one must happen before or after another, and adjusts dates automatically so the relationships always hold; links can cross roadmaps. Items cannot be linked to milestones.

Stride is best for

Teams whose roadmap needs to connect to actual delivery work and stay live as work ships.

Roadmunk is best for

Product organizations whose roadmap stakeholder communication is the primary need, with engineering work in Jira or Azure DevOps.

Where Stride wins

  • Roadmap items connect to PRDs → stories → tests → defects → release notes. Strategic Roadmaps syncs items in from Jira or Azure DevOps on a schedule, but the stories, tests and defects themselves live in those tools.
  • AI turns a PRD into epics, stories with acceptance criteria and test cases. Strategic Roadmaps has no AI features.
  • Full delivery surface (PM, design, QA, release) in one tool at $39/seat. Strategic Roadmaps runs $19 to $99 per editor a month, billed annually, for roadmaps and ideas alone.
  • Live status from delivery: roadmap epics show real progress from their stories (stories and points done) alongside test coverage and defect counts. Strategic Roadmaps shows progress synced from Jira, so it is only as current as the sync.

Where Roadmunk wins

  • Strategic Roadmaps is built for presenting: PNG and HTML exports (static or interactive) on Business and above, and published URLs on every plan, which you can password-protect or embed in Confluence. Stride can only print a roadmap (or save it as PDF from the browser).
  • Portfolio roadmaps roll team roadmaps into one view (on its Business plan and above). Stride has a cross-project roadmap within one workspace, and no portfolio of several roadmaps.
  • Its Idea Manager collects feedback through portals and scores ideas with RICE or value-versus-effort templates. Stride has no feedback portal or idea scoring.

Frequently asked

Can I migrate from Roadmunk?
Strategic Roadmaps exports items and milestones to CSV, separately. Stride accepts CSV import: items, owners, timeline, status, and tags transfer, as stories or as epics when a type column says Epic. Custom visual templates don't migrate.
Does Stride export roadmaps for the board?
Partly. You can print a roadmap or save it as a PDF from your browser's print dialog. There's no PNG export, public roadmap link or embed today; stakeholder presentation polish is Roadmunk's edge.
