How AI credits work

Every paid plan includes monthly AI credits. AI work uses that allowance first, then the workspace’s purchased credit balance. Owners can buy one-time top-ups or enable optional auto-top-up; purchased credits do not expire. If neither balance is available, AI pauses until credits are added.

Where Jira or Linear is genuinely stronger

These are concrete product-fit differences to validate during an evaluation.

Honest take

Jira is the better fit when…

Large enterprises with dedicated Jira admins and complex customisation needs.

  • Jira has a 20-year head start on custom workflows and field-level permissions. If your team runs a 200-state workflow with 40 custom screens, Stride is not the right fit.
  • Atlassian Marketplace has thousands of apps. Stride has a public API + webhooks but a smaller integration ecosystem.

Honest take

Linear is the better fit when…

Engineering-only teams that strictly want issue tracking and are paired with a separate architecture + QA tool.

  • Linear's issue UX is genuinely best-in-class. If you only need issue tracking and nothing else, Linear is a fine choice.
  • Linear's offline-first mobile app is more mature; ours is a PWA.

Switching from Jira or Linear? Bring your whole backlog with you.

Jira Cloud supports an OAuth import and a 30-day two-way migration window. Linear exports can enter through the CSV importer with a mapping preview before anything is created. Stride data can be exported again later.

FAQ

Pricing FAQ

Clear answers about plans, limits, migration, and AI credits.

Create an account, choose a plan, and open the seeded sample project. From there you can start with the sample data, import a Jira Cloud project or CSV backlog, and connect the integrations your team uses; the steps are the same regardless of team size.

Jira handles task tracking. ChatGPT is a general chatbot. Stride is purpose-built for software delivery: structured AI that generates architecture solutions, writes test cases from stories, discovers process bottlenecks, and connects everything with full traceability. No copy-pasting between tools.

Stride warns workspace owners as usage approaches Starter's enforced limits. For AI usage, work draws from the included monthly allowance and then any purchased credit balance; owners can buy a one-time top-up or enable optional auto-top-up, and AI pauses if neither balance is available.

Yes. Storage is per seat, so it grows as you add teammates. Starter includes 1 GB per seat (up to 5 GB), Pro includes 5 GB per seat (up to 500 GB at 100 seats), and Enterprise includes up to 1 TB. Only file attachments count toward the cap, and you can see your usage on the billing page.

Live today: GitHub (App install with auto-linked PRs to stories, optional status auto-sync on open/merge), GitLab (OAuth connect with auto-linked merge requests, pipeline status on the story, optional status auto-sync on open/merge), Slack (one-click bot install, channel picker, per-category toggles for @mentions, story status changes, and sprint events), Jira Cloud (OAuth + webhook import), Claude Code, OpenAI Codex and Cursor (via our MCP server), plus HMAC-signed outbound webhooks and a public REST API on every paid plan. We don't list integrations that don't work yet.

No. Connect Jira Cloud with OAuth, import a project, and keep supported epics, stories, subtasks, sprints, and comments synchronized in both directions during the 30-day migration window. After that window Stride becomes the system of record; for other trackers, the CSV importer provides column mapping and a full preview before anything is created.

Yes. Every paid plan includes Plan, Design, Optimize, and Verify, so a team can begin in one module and adopt the others when they are useful. All four work from the same connected delivery graph, with no separate module activation required.

Every paid plan includes a monthly allowance (200 per seat on Starter, 1,000 per seat on Pro, and 1,500 per seat on Enterprise), and each completed AI generation draws from it according to the work performed. Usage then draws from purchased credits; owners can buy one-time top-ups or enable optional auto-top-up, purchased credits never expire, and AI pauses when neither balance is available.

We use multiple AI providers (Anthropic Claude, OpenAI) with strict data handling. Your project data is used only for your requests, never for training. On Enterprise, bringing your own inference keys and private-cloud deployment are both arranged through sales; neither is a self-serve setting in the product today, so treat them as contracted options rather than switches you can flip.

Stride uses familiar delivery objects such as stories, diagrams, processes, tests, and defects, and every new workspace includes a seeded sample project for exploration. Guided workflows explain each step, while adoption time depends on the team's workflow and migration scope.
